Naveen Jain’s Philanthropy Uninterrupted by Crisis

It has been two decades since India-born Intelius CEO and co-founder Naveen Jain migrated to the U.S. and launched a phenomenal career as an IT businessman. Committed to excellence and tireless at his craft, Jain presently enjoys a well-deserved life of affluence and influence. His wealth has become an avenue for spreading goodwill to individuals, families, and communities, his generosity uninterrupted despite the volatility of the global economy.

At a time when pressure mounted on companies to cut back on operational expenditures and corporate giving, Naveen Jain’s Intelius increased its giving in 2008 to $210,000, the highest in the company’s history. Since its inception, Naveen Jain has worked hand-in-hand with Seattle-based and national nonprofit organizations in order to address the most urgent needs of individuals, families, and communities. Among Naveen Jain’s partners include The United Way, Hopelink, YouthCare, Overlake Service League, Chidren’s Hospital, CRY-India, Vedic Cultural Center, and the Indian American Education Foundation.

Naveen Jain made a mark in the business industry as one of the most promising IT chiefs in the 21st century, even alluded to being “smarter than Bill Gates” more than once. Born in 1959, Naveen Jain hit the tech industry scene in the late 70s upon migrating to the U.S. through a business exchange program. He started work at Microsoft in 1989 as a group manager during which he played important roles in the development of OS/2 platforms, Windows NT, and the flagship service Microsoft Network. Upon his resignation in 1996, Naveen Jain started a fledgling company called InfoSpace, which sells various types of content to large properties on the Web. In 2000, InfoSpace peaked at $31 billion and made Naveen Jain one of Forbes’ 400 Richest Americans. In 2003, he established another IT firm called Intelius, a broker of online intelligence information services such as background checks, verification, employment screening, identity theft protection, and people searches.
